Go Go LisaI demanded that fanboymaster give us an even number of streams for this Tony Hawkathon, so now you all have to watch the most forgettable of Tony Hawkalikes. First up, we have The Simpsons Skateboarding, a Playstation 2 title that looks bad, plays bad, and includes skateboarding with Professor Frink. He will not make you laugh or think. Then we move on to Konami’s Evolution Skateboarding, notable primarily because it features a number of Konami luminaries as hidden characters. Unfortunately, it does not feel all that great to play, either, and including two future Smash Bros. characters can only carry you so far. Finally, we hit Skateboard Madness Xtreme Edition, and the only “madness” involved is that the game was clearly slapped together inside of 28 seconds. There is so much unfortunate wiggling!

And that’s it for this Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (mostly) marathon. Will fanboymaster reclaim the pilot’s seat to shred again with Tony? Perhaps in an Underground fashion? One day we’ll know…

Random Notes:

  • Welcome to the madness! fanboymaster is starting with The Simpsons Skateboarding, and he’s got BEAT, Cassandralyn, Trynant, Chromes, Jeanie, and myself in the audience. Oh, but I’m not there at the start-start, so everyone apparently takes a few moments to insult me. Cowards!
  • Be glad the game audio is mostly muffled, as Kent Brockman idiotically announces nearly every move Bart makes.
  • After some attempts to follow the rules for tricks, we skate on to Springfield proper. Bart is only two apples tall, and nothing is scaled properly. Nothing.
  • “Oh my God he’s doing the worm.”
  • “You don’t deserve me at my in the zone.”
  • This cannot be rightWe use cheat codes to unlock all the hidden Simpsons and their outfits. We even get everyone’s favorite character, Gangsta Lisa.
  • No one is allowed to jump Springfield Gorge.
  • Nelson Muntz is a ballerina at Itchy and Scratchy land. Itchy is an appropriate size! Kinda!
  • Demon Marge is clearly a Bride of Frankenstein, GameFAQs! Anyway, enjoy some mini golf.
  • I have one fear, and that is you will not go read Branson Reese’s Swan Boy.
  • We are banishing Springfield to syndication to move on to Evolution Skateboarding. This is not Evolution: Far Off Promise. It is not a promise of anything. But thank you, Konami, for letting us play as Frogger… which we will not do.
  • We are starting by skateboarding with Snake through Plant. Every character has different assigned levels, and this one might be recognizable for fans of Solid Snacks.
  • BEAT reviews the soundtrack while Solid Snake boards around Castlevania. This should be more interesting than it is.
  • We’re fighting Dracula! Through skeletons! But we love skeletons!
  • Andre the Giant could have been a very effective spy through the espionage skills of politeness and affection.
  • We try a little boarding with a gorilla. It is not as fun as it could be. Sorry, Big Foot.
  • Did I mention that Caithness joined somewhere in here? And Caliscrub, too? Well, now you know.
  • My favorite monkeyAnd then it is time to take Vampire Hunter and his crop top/skirt combo through the subway. Anybody wanna watch Xena? Or Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
  • Konami means Otomodeus Excellent means Parodius means Gradius. Bah! That is making my head hurt! Let’s scoot over to…
  • Skateboard Madness Xtreme Edition: the nadir of the evening. It was only ever unleashed upon Europe!
  • “This game was made in two months for no money.”
  • The soundtrack should exclusively be the losing sound from The Price is Right.
  • Remember that this is from the makers of Cindy’s Fashion World and Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys.
  • And after being far too annoyed by a ten minute timer, we are done. Tony Hawk will return! But Skateboard Madness Xtreme Edition will not. Thanks for watching… like a hawk.

Next time on Even Worse Streams: We are all diddled again.

  1. I know Evolution Skateboarding is not that good a skateboarding game but I still feel it’s a li’l sad that the built-in MGS2 Substance demo was excised from all non-PS2 versions of the game. Snake and Raiden fumbling around the Big Shell on skateboards was the kinda ridiculous additional nonsense I loved in the Metal Gear Solid games.

Least Snake vs Monkey is set to return in that (sadly but expectedly Kojima-less) Snake Eater remake. And something with Bomberman for the Xboxes.
